DESCRIPTION
- Abstract
- MABEL STEWART LUDLUM [aka: "Sister Mabel"; Mrs. Seymour Dewitt Ludlum] 1. Undated correspondence from Mabel Ludlum to Dorothy Stewart: There are seven letters and one short note from Ludlum to Stewart in this archive and in this binder, Sept. 13, [1939] - Feb. 12, 1945, written from her residences in Philadelphia, PA and Keene Valley, NY. One letter is fragmentary [only the last page is extant], and it was written circa Sept. 1944, referring to an exchange of letters between Ludlum and Chabot. [See: Mabel Ludlum to Maria Chabot, Sept. 17, 1944.] Ludlum addresses Stewart as, "Dear Duck." 2. Three postcards from Europe. One is from France, but D.N.S. is not with M.C., and it probably pre-dates their European trip together in 1937 - 1938. This post card and the one following mentions "Otey" [Williams] as her companion and were probably written during the same trip, but there is no postmark. The third postcard is posted from Greece, but the date is illegible. 3. Two letters and one page of a letter written from New York. One is written from Bronxville, NY the other from New York City. The extant last page of a letter continues to discuss visits to New York publishers trying to get Adobe Notes published.
